Skin needling promotes scar-less healing and natural collagen reproduction, similar to fractional laser treatments, IPL, laser resurfacing, and chemical peels, but without the side effects and downtime.

The mechanism of injury is a natural process, which makes skin needling a holistic approach to skin therapy. Four major phases of physiological wound response help in stimulating new healthy tissue growth:

1. An inflammatory response (1-3 days), to the initial injury promotes the chemotaxis response and proliferation of fibroblasts. The body’s platelets also respond to initiate a wound matrix. This response is the early phase of cell migration to remove debris and bacteria and stimulate the next proliferative phase.
2. During the second phase (3-5 days), the new fibroblasts, monocytes, keratinocytes of the first phase continue to proliferate and multiply. New collagen will be laid down and deposited with new tissue formation.
3. Next a fibrotic response (5-20 days), of growth factors are released and fibroblasts release collagen.
4. Finally, the maturation stage of new healthy skin takes place from day 28 to two years after treatment. Collagens mature and stiffen and the matrix of new tissue shows 80% to full tensile strength.

	Firstly we will fully assess your skin then cleanse your face. At the Mayfair Practice our ethos is to minimise pain so we apply a topical anaesthetic for 45 to 60 minutes to numb the skin, this is then removed and the skin needling treatment begins.
	Once completed we apply a blend of high potency serums, vitamins and hyaluronic acid and use Alma’s Impact Expert ultrasound technology device to enhance absorption and aid healing. We then apply a cooling Crystal Fibre Nano mask by Mesoestetic to further hydrate and sooth the skin, this helps calm down any redness.
	We then apply Oxygenetix, a high performance medical foundation, which promotes healing, conceals any redness and offers SPF30 protection so you are ready to go straight back to your day without any worry.

A series of treatments are required to fully appreciate the benefits of inducing an immune response, and subsequently, the creation of new healthy collagen. Most people will benefits from 4 treatments at intervals of 4-8 weeks, however more may be required to improve pitted skin or post acne scarring.
